Russia and Ukraine exchange major drone attacks
Both sides reported hundreds of drone attacks on 5 November as talks on reconstruction and security guarantees continued in Brussels.
Both parties to the conflict are presented separately, followed by a factual neutral assessment.
Ukrainian account
Ukraine said its air defences shot down or suppressed 105 of 128 Russian attack drones. Ukrainian officials reported four people wounded and said Russia struck logistics, railway and energy facilities.
Russian account
Russia's Defence Ministry said 496 Ukrainian drones were intercepted. Moscow's installed leader in Luhansk reported five killed and 13 wounded in a Ukrainian strike on a bus; Reuters could not independently verify Russia's battlefield accounts.
Neutral editorial assessment
AP and Reuters confirm reciprocal air attacks and Russian strikes on logistics and transport targets. The interception totals, casualty figures and claims of military use come from the parties and are only partly independently verifiable. The attacks coincided with talks on reconstruction and security.
