Russian missile and drone attacks caused outages in twelve Ukrainian regions on 20 October; Ukrainian authorities reported at least nine deaths.
Both parties to the conflict are presented separately, followed by a factual neutral assessment.
Ukrainian account
Ukraine's Energy Ministry reported strikes on facilities in Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi and Odesa. DTEK said three facilities in the Odesa region were hit and 32,700 households remained without power. Authorities reported at least nine deaths in the day's attacks.
Russian account
Russia's Defence Ministry said it struck logistics centres, port infrastructure and three cargo ships at the port of Reni, as well as another vessel heading for Odesa. It also said 136 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over Russian regions. These claims were not independently verified.
