Both parties to the conflict are presented separately, followed by a factual neutral assessment.

U.S. account

The resolution submitted by the U.S., Britain, France and Germany calls on Iran to remedy its non-compliance and allow the IAEA to verify that nuclear material is not diverted.

Iranian account

Iranian ambassador Reza Najafi rejects the resolution as a political tool. Tehran says its nuclear program is peaceful and inspections are currently practically impossible because Iranian sites remain under attack.

Neutral editorial assessment

The referral and vote are confirmed. It can open the way to further sanctions, but approval is considered unlikely because Russia and China hold vetoes on the Security Council.
