New attacks and new aid: Canada pledges drones and air defense to Ukraine
Canada says it will send Ukraine one third of its future drone production and provide air-defense interceptors worth C$350 million. At the same time, large-scale drone attacks by both sides continue.
Both parties to the conflict are presented separately, followed by a factual neutral assessment.
Ukrainian account
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says his country will produce millions of drones over the next two years and give one third to Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy calls the additional air defense crucial amid Russian attacks on cities and energy facilities.
Russian account
Russia’s Defense Ministry says it shot down 448 Ukrainian drones that same night over 13 Russian regions, annexed Crimea, and the Black and Caspian seas. That figure has not been independently confirmed.
Neutral editorial assessment
The Canadian commitments and Zelenskyy’s visit are documented by AP, The Canadian Press, and the Canadian government. Interception and casualty figures reported by both warring parties remain partly unverified; together, the reports mainly show the growing importance of drone warfare.
