Both parties to the conflict are presented separately, followed by a factual neutral assessment.

U.S. account

President Donald Trump had publicly rejected the original proposal. Reuters reported that US officials then sent feedback through Qatar; the main dispute concerns the sequencing of the proposed steps.

Iranian account

Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi presented the US response to President Masoud Pezeshkian at a cabinet meeting. Iran maintains conditions including an end to fighting, relief from the blockade and oil sanctions, and the release of frozen funds.

Neutral editorial assessment

AP and Reuters independently confirm that US feedback was transmitted through Qatar. Neither side published the text, and no agreement was reported. The contacts show continued diplomacy, not a settlement or the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
